Bishops plays Auckland Grammar School

Auckland Grammar School New Zealand toured South Africa in January 2012.

Our brand new untried or tested 1st and 2nd polo teams played against Auckland Grammar School on the 19th of January 2012. Bishops families hosted the touring teams for the night of the 18th & 19th January just before their return to New Zealand. After a visit by AGS to Langa the boys arrived back at Bishops for the two games.

AGS Development Team vs Bishops 2nd Team

AGS were a little unsettled in the 1st chukka leaving them 0-4 down. Bishops continued to control the game into the 2nd chukka and held onto a comfortable lead of 7-0. In the 3rd chukka the there was a sudden change in direction of the ball and AGS quickly scored against Bishops. A further goal was scored when Bishops was penalised with a kick out. The score still remained strong in Bishops favour at 9-2. By the end of the 4th chukka Bishops 2nd team came out tops with a final score of  12:4.

Bishops 1st Team vs AGS Premier Team

The AGS Premier team proved to have a lot more experience and definitely showed that they had been on tour together.

After narrowly losing the swim off, AGS forced a kick out and scored straight away. Bishops quickly equalised, but AGS were again awarded a kick out and scored twice, making the score at the end of the 1st chukka 4:2. Bishops picked up the pace in the 2nd chukka and scored 2 goals against only 1 scored by AGS. The 6 minutes of the 3rd chukka were tough and the score did not change as the two sides continued to fight for possession. After the 3rd kick out against Bishops, AGS quickly scores 4 goals against only 2 more by Bishops. In the final minutes disappointingly for Bishops AGS scored again making the final score 10:7 to AGS. Well done.

Great effort from the new Bishops team, and good luck for all the work ahead!
